About Me

While I have had a lifelong love of art and the creative process, my passion for working with children led me to pursue a career in education.  After earning my bachelors degree from Berry College, I spent two years teaching preschool and fourth grade. I began in the regular education classroom, but quickly realized after making the move to teaching art in year three, that art education was my true calling all along.  I taught kindergarten-5th grade art in a Georgia public school for 7 years, and I currently teach junior kindergarten through 7th grade art at North Cobb Christian School in Kennesaw, Georgia. I most enjoy creating ceramic art, drawing, and painting with watercolor. With my background in education, I enjoy researching instructional strategies and planning curriculum to most effectively teach my students and provide meaningful learning experiences in the art room. I believe art education is an important part of a child's holistic development. Allowing students to share their own stories through art and gain empathy through studying the artwork of others is vital to student growth. It my desire to help students identify and develop their God-given strengths in visual art, as well as learn about historical and contemporary artists. I hope to continually develop my skills and expertise as an art educator, artist, and scholar. In 2021, I earned my Master of Arts degree in Art Education from the University of Florida.
